Nitish Kumar is one leader who has direct access to the BJP’s top leaders and thus, he can easily handle all the union ministers who are from Bihar.
He already has several credentials to show. The same Nitish, with the BJP as his ally then, had paved the way for the setting up a branch of Aligarh Muslim University in Bihar.
The Bihar chief minister has already started making efforts to reap maximum benefits of his improved relation with the Centre.
Calling Kumar an "opportunist" and "Paltu Ram" (turncoat), Lalu said, even if Tejaswi had tendered his resignation the JD(U) leader would have gone ahead with his plan to split the alliance.
While RJD chief Lalu Prasad is preparing for the August 27 rally in which many Opposition leaders are likely to participate, Tejashwi’s main task is to target the state govt.
"There were corruption charges and cases were filed by the CBI (against Lalu Prasad and family). I had only told them to come out with proper answers," Nitish said.
With Kumar on its side, the BJP wants to give special focus to expand its social base in the state with an eye on the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Nitish Kumar sailed through with 131 votes in his favour and 108 against.
Unlike his father Lalu Prasad who had fought against BJP leaders such as Lal Krishna Advani, Tejashwi has to contend with PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
Nitish Kumar's main weapon to politically counter RJD would be faster execution of his development programme, observers said.
