According to reports from ET Bureau, a 25-year old boy from Basti passed away in BRD Hospital in Gorakhpur. Worryingly, he was found to be positive after his death, following which there is now widespread fear that the deceased may have passed the contagion to many — including doctors and paramedics that he came in touch with.

On Monday, a video emerged where a group of migrant workers coming from outside the state were made to sit on the road while workers with protective gear sprayed disinfectant on them. According to a report, water infused with sodium hypochlorite or bleach was used in bathing the group that included children.
Faced with reverse migration of close to a lakh workers, Uttar Pradesh government has an uphill task of monitoring each returnee for Covid-19 symptoms, even as the tally of positive cases in the state shot up to more than 70 on Sunday.

In a bid to prevent people from coming out, the state has built a robust delivery system for delivery of milk, vegetables and grocery following which more than 10 lakh litres of milk have been delivered up till now.
Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Punya Salila Srivastava said the central government has also asked the states and UTs to set up camps for migrant workers fleeing cities and carry out their health check-ups. The states and UTs were also told to communicate about the availability of free food and accommodation to migrant workers.
The directive from the Union home ministry followed reports that the Covid-19 triggered national lockdown had created hardship for migrant workers across the country. Exodus of industrial workers, agricultural labourers and workers of other unorganised sectors have the potential to spread the pandemic.
"Manufacturing, sale and storage of pan masala is being banned in the state till further orders," Food Security Commissioner Ministhy S said in an order issued here. Spitting pan masala can help in spreading Covid-19," the order said.
