CII has suggested government set up common facilities for establishments in a locality to avail on cost basis. Besides, it has suggested labour ministry revisit the penalties proposed for contraventions so that the focus is on compliance and deterrence. The industry body has sent its recommendations to the standing committee on labour.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, the department undertakes development of rainfed portions of net cultivated area and cultivable wastelands in association with states. DILRMP is a 100 per cent grant scheme from the centre for computerisation of all existing land records including mutations (or transfers) and digitization of maps.
As per the proposal, the board shall consists of the chief inspector of mines, who shall be its chairperson, three members possessing technical qualification in mining or petroleum engineering and having at least twenty years’ practical experience, one each in coal mines, metal mines, and oil mines to represent each sector appointed by the govt.

Department of land resources in collaboration with National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Department of Space has published Wastelands Atlases of India - 2000, 2005, 2010 & 2011 editions. The new wastelands mapping exercise, carried out by NRSC using the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite data is the fifth edition of Wastelands Atlas – 2019.
As part of the programme, a two-year advanced diploma in IT, networking and cloud computing, co-created and designed by IBM, will be offered at the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) & National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs). The platform will be extended to train ITI & NSTI faculty on building skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Labour productivity fell to 2.6% and 2.9% in FY17 and FY18 respectively compared to high growth phase of FY04-FY08 when it grew 14.2%, said an Ind-Ra analysis. Longer and sustainable labour productivity growth is dependent on investments in innovation, knowledge, and intangible capital by businesses, and governments’ commitments towards structural reforms, the report said.
