EXISTING STATUS
Uses cash and credit card for offline transactions.
WHAT’S THE IMPACT?
Faced problems in cash and card transactions, with shops refusing cards due to the surcharge. Borrowed cash from father.
WHAT HAS HE DONE?
Has downloaded an e-wallet app and is conducting transactions. Used a bank app for the first time to transfer funds to a merchant.

EXISTING STATUS
Uses credit and debit cards. Pays bills via online transactions.
WHAT’S THE IMPACT?
Is resorting to petty cash for payments to grocer, milkman, etc. Has limited spending to bare essentials for now.

Has now downloaded Paytm app for mobile wallet transactions.

Has provision only for cash transactions in shop.

Has suffered a loss of nearly Rs 10,000 since 10 November due to the falling number of customers.

Has applied for a swipe machine to enable credit card transactions in the shop. Likely to start in 4-5 days.

EXISTING STATUS
Has been using cash and doesn’t have a credit card. Does not conduct online transactions or use mobile wallets.
WHAT’S THE IMPACT?
Is buying grocery from Big Bazaar with husband’s credit card. Expenses are curtailed, prioritising spending on essentials. Is lending cash to domestic help.
WHAT HAS SHE DONE?
Will apply for debit and credit cards, independent from her husband’s. The couple plans to download Paytm app for mobile wallet transactions.

EXISTING STATUS
Uses mobile wallet apps like Paytm and FreeCharge. Parents at hometown in Andhra Pradesh conduct all transactions through cash.
WHAT’S THE IMPACT?
Is not facing much of a cash crunch. Purchasing grocery, vegetables via Grofers. Parents are facing crunch because of few bank ATMs. Have borrowed money from a neighbour.
WHAT HAS HE DONE?
Will maintain status quo. Parents too unlikely to change due to poor infrastructure for cashless transactions.
