Last month, the RBI told the Supreme Court that WhatsApp had met all its data localisation mandates and that the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)had given approval to WhatsApp partner ICICI Bank to go live on WhatsApp Pay.

The person will be hired as Director of WhatsApp Payments India and will report to WhatsApp India chief Abhijit Bose, who joined WhatsApp in November 2018 from electronics payments company Ezetap, where he was cofounder and CEO.
