Tata Motors sales dropped 37 percent at 182759 units compared to 291947 in the previous fiscal in the same period. Skoda Auto’s sales dipped 31 percent in April-Feb 2013-14 at 18478 units compared to 27000 units in the like period a year ago.
Mahindra & Mahindra, despite being in the utility segment which has seen strength, slipped 19 percent in the same comparative period, becoming the third worst performer in the passenger vehicle segment in sales.
Among country’s top two largest passenger vehicle manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki was able to remain in the north direction with marginal less than one percent growth while Hyundai Motor India could not weather the pressure and moved to south by 1.29 percent in the above mentioned comparative period.
The cumulative sales performance of Toyota and Volkswagen was also under pressure as both the companies experience a de-growth of 17 per cent in the April-Feb 2013-14 compared to same period previous fiscal.
