Havells targets Rs 1,000 crore revenue from switchgears in three years

Last year the company’s switchgear segment grew 13% which was more than the industry growth rate of about 8%.

Kochi: Havells India has targeted Rs 1,000 crore revenue from building circuit protection devices over three years with the launch of its new series of technologically advanced miniature circuit breakers (MCB) and residual current circuit breakers (RCCB) with six years warranty for the first time.

"We are the leaders in the domestic switchgear segment in the country and the new range will further cement our leadership position,’’ said Vivek Yadav, senior vice president, building segment of Havells India.

Havells, he said, has 27% share in domestic switchgear market of a size of Rs 2,200 crore. Last year the company’s switchgear segment grew 13% which was more than the industry growth rate of about 8%.

The new series of switchgears are meant for new age consumers who are using more and more gadgets increasing load on electric sockets, he said. The company is rolling out the products across the country starting from Kerala, where it has a significant presence with a position in the top three. South India contributed 24% of the total business of Havells.

The new products are manufactured in its plant at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. The company has ramped up the capacity to produce six million poles per month.
