JAIPUR: Enraged by large scale hiring of labourers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, locals have stalled work at Cairn India's Mangla Processing Terminal (MPT) at Barmer, merely a week after its official inauguration by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Demanding 80% jobs for the local population, native labourers ransacked the houses of migrants and pelted stones to force them to flee from the working site. Member of Parliament form Barmer Harish Chaudhary said the management can't overlook the demands of natives. "The company had promised 80% intake from local population but hired migrants. We can't tolerate the neglect," he said.
