“Nationally, nearly 30 Covid-19 vaccine candidates are under development, by both industry and academia. These vaccines are in different stages of pre-clinical and clinical development,” said Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, in the Lok Sabha last week.

MUMBAI:India has three Covid-19 vaccine candidates in phase 2/3 human trials, with four more to start late-stage trials by end of the year, data from the World Health Organization (WHO), India’s health ministry and the clinical trial registry show.Besides, there are 30 vaccine candidates in various stages of development, making it one of the largest pipelines in the world despite being late starters in the vaccine race. “Nationally, nearly 30
