The lockdown had turned up the volume in audiobooks. Demand, especially in the regional language segment, is still growing.

Sometime in August, a curious Google Play Store review popped up on the download page of Pratilipi FM, a portal that hosts audio stories. A “farmer from Maharashtra” wrote in Marathi, “Mee aikto shetat kaam karat astanna, ya mule kaam aathvat naahi. (I listen to the stories when working on the farm. Sometimes, it make me forget my work.)” Many such reviews from several vernacular language speakers throng the page. These have been a revelation
