India’s ace batsman Rohit Sharma and adidas extend association
It was back in 2013 when adidas made Rohit Sharma their brand ambassador in India. Together, they have created multiple avenues where young talents, not just pertaining to the gentleman’s game, are recognised.
And recently the sportswear major has decided to extend its association with the ace cricketer, Rohit Sharma. The Germany company’s alliance with the Indian cricketer shows how the brand continues to inspire the young generation of India through the success stories of Indian icons. From the start, adidas has been the front runner in promoting young talent in the country. In fact, last year Hima Das, Manpreet Singh, and Swapna Barman were some of the big athletes to be signed up by the brand.
It is not just cricket that Rohit Sharma is vocal about. He is equally invested in promoting other sports and has extended full support in promoting them. This way their partnership has been able to fuel the passion of many youngsters and has contributed to the development of the overall sports culture in the country.
For some time now, Rohit Sharma has been actively campaigning for the Run For The Oceans movement that addresses environmental threats towards the oceans and marine plastic pollution.
While speaking on the occasion Rohit Sharma said, “I believe adidas is the best brand for any athlete. I believe in their products and the comfort and benefit they offer me in my sport. Further, they have continuously stepped in to provide customized solutions to athletes, including me, thereby helping us overcome many injuries. In my association with the brand over the last six years, I have witnessed adidas has been a major catalyst in making a positive difference to people’s lives on the sporting field and off it. It is the leading sports brand and has played a key role in promoting sports at the grassroots, which includes providing world-class platforms and experiences accessible to amateurs and pro-athletes. I am happy to have played my role to enable the brand position itself strongly and emerge as a leader across categories, be it cricket, training, football, or running. I look forward to our association going from strength to strength.’’
An elated Sharad Singla, the Director Brand Marketing of adidas India said, “ At adidas , we believe, through sport, we have the power to change lives, and our association with Rohit will craft new journeys for youth to look up to. With his undying passion for sports and the creativity that he brings to the field, he not only makes the game of cricket more beautiful but in the process also inspires young athletes both on and off the field. Rohit is also an ambassador of change, continuously propagating a message that helps the world to become a better place to live in. We are extremely happy to continue on this journey of bringing a positive change along with Rohit.’’
Rohit has always applauded adidas and the brand's innovative line of products. It was last year when the union of adidas and Rohit Sharma reached a new milestone. Rohit became the Ocean Squad Member of Run for the Oceans. It’s a global running movement to raise awareness about marine plastic pollution through the power of sports.
