Sale or no sale, online shoppers always get great deals in India
Online retailers offer 50% average discounts on fashion and lifestyle products even in non-sale events.
In fact, the average quantum of discount on products sold online during non-sale period, at 53%, was slightly higher than the average 51% discount during online sale events in the first six months of this calendar year, according to a study on online shopping pattern by omnichannel enabler company Ace Turtle.
“We have found even on non-sales days most of the customers are buying discounted products only,” said Nitin Chhabra, CEO at Ace Turtle.
The survey — which covered around one million products across apparel, footwear and accessories sold on various ecommerce platforms including Flipkart, Amazon and Myntra in more than 20,000 post codes during January to June — found that online retailers offered 50% average discounts on fashion and lifestyle products even in non-sale events.
The report, ‘How India Shops Online’ said consumers in non-metro cities purchased almost 76% of the overall one million fashion and lifestyle items during January to June.
Purchases by non-metro consumers jumped 45% in the 19 days of mega online discounting days compared to the rest 162 non-discount days, while in metro cities the increase in average daily sales was 40% during sale events, it said.
Shoes were most popular items with 48% non-metro shoppers and 49% of metro shoppers buying footwear during the mega sale days, the survey said.
Bengaluru-based Ace Turtle handles end-to-end ecommerce operations for various brands, and provides technological support to about three dozen Indian and global brands including Puma, Diesel, Jack & Jones, Bata, Arrow, Fossil, Fila, Michael Kors, and Emporio Armani.
