"We’re going to do 5G. We’re the only network in the world that doesn’t have a single Chinese component," Ambani told Trump.
Reliance Industries (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani told US president Donald Trump, who was on his maiden visit to India earlier this month, that Reliance Jio is the only network in the world that doesn't use a single Chinese equipment.

"You’re doing 4G. Are you going to do 5G too?," Trump had asked Ambani during a discusion with Indian CEOs, according to a transcript released by the White House. To which, Ambani replied: "We’re going to do 5G. We’re the only network in the world that doesn’t have a single Chinese component."

The US has alleged in the past that Chinese telecom gear vendors Huawei and ZTE are a security threat and are involved in snooping on behalf of the Chinese government. US and its allies including Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Taiwan have already banned the two companies from participating in 5G networks, while UK has allowed them to sell non-core items.
