The housing and urban affairs ministry has been pushing for opening of Metro systems citing mounting losses and increasing traffic jams on the roads.

“We would take a call on opening Metro (transport) systems over the next two weeks. The standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place. We are ready to open the system but it would be in a staggered manner," Puri said.

New Delhi: The Centre will be taking a decision on opening urban Metro transport systems over the next two weeks, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told ET in an interview on Monday.
