JWT India appoints Adrian Miller as chief creative officer for Delhi

MUMBAI: Advertising agency JWT will have a creative chief after a gap of more than a year next month when Adrian Miller, a Swiss national working in Malaysia, takes charge as the chief creative officer of JWT Delhi, said Colvyn Harris, CEO of JWT India.

Miller, who quit as an executive creative director of Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia and Singapore in March, will be joining in August.

On having a chief creative officer only for the Delhi office, Harris said that the size of the operations in Delhi merits such an appointment. “JWT Delhi is much larger than China. It handles all of Pepsi business, Frito Lay, Hero Honda, Nokia and has five ECDs (executive creative directors) overlooking different brands,” Mr Harris said.

He added that Miller would be handling only the Delhi office and won’t have the national mandate to oversee JWT offices in Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata.

However, sources within JWT said that the appointment of Miller as the CCO of Delhi office will allow him to ease into the scheme of things before taking a larger responsibility. "Miller will start gradually with Delhi to get a feel. Then he could be given a larger responsibility," sources said.

Delhi office over the years has become one of the largest JWT offices across the world. “All the major business accounts like Nokia, Hero Honda and PepsiCo are handled out of Delhi, so it makes sense for a creative head to operate out of Delhi,” an official said, requesting anonymity.

Agnello Dias, co-founder and chief creative officer at Taproot India, was the last national creative director (NCD) of JWT India — a post Bruce Matchett and Josy Paul of BBDO held before him. JWT is yet to announce a new head for its Mumbai office after the exit of Dhunji Wadia.
