Dia Mirza's gets married to Sahil Sangha in Avadhi style
Bollywood actress Dia Mirza on Saturday tied the knot with longtime partner Sahil Sangha in a lavish wedding ceremony at a farmhouse in Ghitorni.
The 32-year-old 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein' star, who got engaged to her filmmaker fiance Sahil in April, opted for an intimate Arya Samaj wedding.
"I am very happy. It was a beautiful Arya Samaj ceremony. The vows were explained to us. It was wonderful because it was good to be conscious of what you are going through and what are the vows you are exchanging. It was a dream wedding," Dia said post her wedding while posing for the shutterbugs outside the venue.
Looking elegant and beautiful, the former Miss Asia Pacific wore a Ritu Kumar beige and green sharara. The traditional joda dates back to the mughal era with the embroidery tradition of the old zardozi craftsmanship, but also has a contemporary feel. Her better half sported a Raghavendra Rathore cream silk linen brocade achkan with an offwhite safa.
"Since, I am not getting married in Hyderabad and being a Hyderabadi I chose this outfit to add some Hyderabadi flavour to my wedding. I feel like a typical Hyderabadi bride," she said.
The wedding ceremony at the nicely-decorated posh farmhouse was attended by the couple's friends from Bollywood including Sushmita Sen, Mahesh Bhupati, Lara Dutta, Rajkumar Hirani, Zayed Khan, Sophie Choudry and Cyrus Sahukar.
"Our friends and family worked really hard to make this a memorable day for Diya and me. We are very happy and grateful for everyone who bestowed so much love on us," said Sahil.
The couple are the owners of a production house Born Free Entertainment, under which they have released two films 'Love Breakups Zindagi' and 'Bobby Jasoos'. 'Love Breakups Zindagi' was the debut of Sahil in direction and the romantic story also starred Dia in the pivotal role apart from Zayed, Cyrus, Tisca Chopra, Satyadeep Mishra and Pallavi Sharda.
The newly-married couple have no honeymoon plans as of now and are planning to get back into work soon.
"We will celebrate Diwali with family in Delhi. We will go for honeymoon by the end of this year. We will currently head back to work," said Sahil.
The duo has been dating from last four years.
(In photo: Dia Mirza's ensemble by Ritu Kumar is made up of a kurta, farshi payjama and a dupatta. The upper half or paat of the payjama is made of gold net and lined with tanchoi silk brocade and the lower half or gote is made of green and turq stripes of patched silk sewn together diagonally. Each stripe is designed with stylized floral designs. The elaborate borders placed on both the paat and the gote seams are finished in a style typical of the Hyderabadi court, a city which Dia has lived in for many years. The dupatta has been embroidered by master craftsmen with a lineage from the Avadh court. The kurta is decorated with zardozi around the neckline. A similar design is embroidered on the ground of the second emerald green dupatta in alternate rows of curling vines and stylized floral motifs. The main dupatta has a special motif embroidered on the part that covers the hair.)
