On Saturday night, the czar of Indian cuisine Jiggs Kalra, who has served Princess Diana and Prince Charles, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Bill Clinton, celebrated 40 years in the industry with a party thrown by his son Zorawar and daughter-in-law Dildeep. The 67-year-man of the hour was impeccably dressed in a black bandhgala and added a quirky touch by sporting a blue cap emblazoned with his name.

Since Kalra was wheelchair-bound, it was endearing to see guests make a beeline for him, amongst them Robin Uthappa, Nachiket Barve and fellow Indian cuisine legend Sanjeev Kapoor, who was seen discussing the dinner menu with the host. Guests enjoyed signature dishes like sabudana and peanut butter tikki, and the jalebi caviar with saffron foam. The celebrations went on for hours, but Kalra left, just like Cinderella, at midnight.
