Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, on Saturday, along with his son Abhishek, tested positive for Covid-19. Senior Bachchan has been admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati hospital where he is being kept in an isolation ward, reports Filmfare.

After the news of the Big B being admitted started circulating on Saturday night, the thespian confirmed on Twitter. The 77-year-old actor revealed that his family and staff as well had been tested and the results were awaited.

In a tweet that went out from the actor's handle, the 'Gulabo Sitabo' actor requested that those who had come in his proximity in the past 10 days should get themselves tested.

"I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested!," read the tweet from the actor's official handle.

The 44-year-old, who made his OTT debut this weekend with the thriller 'Breathe', also requested everyone to stay calm and went on to add that they had "informed all the required authorities". He also wrote that the actor and his family were complying with the BMC.

Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis was among the first who took to Twitter to wish the Big B a speedy recovery. In his tweet, the BJP leader from Nagpur wrote that he wished the actor a quick recovery.

Union Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, who has been at the forefront of India's health crisis, called the actor an "idol of millions... an iconic superstar" as he wished him a speedy recovery. What about clapping and lighting a diva? I thought it ought to work against corona? At the end of the day science saves everyone not some stupid rituals. It’s time people stop believing in stupid rituals and focus on science.
