Kangana Ranaut (L) said that Priyanka Chopra's (R) choice between duty and emotions was not an easy one to make.
A day after actress Priyanka Chopra was caught in a controversy for supporting the Indian Army's strike on Balakot in Pakistan, colleague Kangana Ranaut came out in her support saying that the former's choice between duty and emotions was not an easy one to make. In an interview to ETimes, the 'Manikarnika' actress batted for PeeCee, and said that being a UN ambassador often meant that one had to expand one's horizons and not limit one's identity to simply one nation.

"It's not an easy choice to make. When you are stuck between your duty and your emotions and being a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, you can't limit your identity to one nation, but how many of us choose heart over mind every day," she posed.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan's Human Rights minister Shireen Mazari took to Twitter to share a picture of her letter to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) seeking the 'Baywatch' actress's removal as Goodwill Ambassador. She accused Chopra of supporting the Indian government's nuclear war threat to Pakistan. Mazari's letter alleged that Chopra's statements undermine the credibility of United Nations for which she must be sacked from her role. She also called the Narendra Modi-led NDA government a 'Nazi doctrine of ethnic cleansing, racism, fascism and genocide.'

This comes after diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan intensified after the BJP scrapped off Article 370 from the Constitution, a provision which granted special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, lyricist Javed Akhtar also came out in Chopra's support. While calling the actress a cultured and decent person, he said that her comments on the Kashmir issue are of an Indian, and if Pakistan has a problem with it, they can do whatever they want.

Earlier, Chopra made news when a Pakistani girl called her a hypocrite at an event in Los Angeles. The girl accused Chopra of promoting nuclear war through one of her tweets that lauded the Indian Air Force's action on Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camp in Balakot. While answering the girl, Chopra asked her to not yell, and that despite being a Goodwill Ambassador, she needs to walk on a middle ground like all others.

Chopra was elected as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December, 2016.
