Chicken Biryani & Masala Dosa are most-ordered dishes in India; Chinese, Italian favourite cuisines

Indians' favourite breakfast options include poha, idli, poori.

Chicken Biryani was among the most-ordered dishes this year.
Food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy released a report with gastronomical trends in India for the past year based on their order-analysis for the term December 2017 to November 2018. Here is a quick peek.

India’s most searched food item on Swiggy: Pizza, Chicken, Burger and Cake are the most searched food items for 2018.

Most-ordered dishes: Chicken Biryani, Masala Dosa, Paneer Butter Masala, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Fried Rice, Tandoori Chicken and Dal Makhani.

Favourite international cuisines: Chinese, Continental, and Italian dishes are the top international cuisines ordered-in.

Chinese food was among the favourite international cuisines for Indians.

India’s favorite starters:
Chicken 65, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Lollipop and Veg Manchurian.

Top breakfast items: Masala Dosa, Idli, Vada, Plain Dosa, Poori, Pongal, Poha and Upma

Along with being one of the most-ordered dishes, Masala Dosa was among the preferred breakfast options.

Top Lunch items: Chicken Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Veg Biryani, Paneer Butter Masala, Masala Dosa, Chicken Fried Rice, Veg Fried Rice and Curd Rice.

Top Dinner items: Chicken Biryani, Paneer Butter Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Dal Makhani, Chicken Fried Rice, Mutton Biryani, Kadai Paneer and Veg Fried Rice.

Top Snack items:
Chicken Biryani, Pav Bhaji, French Fries, Masala Dosa, Samosa, Vada Pav. Chicken Fried Rice, Garlic Breadsticks

Top late-night items:
Chicken Biryani, Chicken Fried Rice, Dal Makhani, Tandoori Chicken, French Fries, Jeera Rice, Kadai Paneer and Butter Chicken.

French fries made it to the most-ordered snack options, as well as late-night food choices.

Earliest order, latest order: Swiggy’s earliest order came from Coimbatore at 6.00 am and latest one came in at 4:37 am from Delhi.

Most expensive and cheapest order: The highest priced order on Swiggy has been for nearly INR 38,000 and alternately the lowest priced order has been for INR. 10.

Desserts: Tender coconut ice-cream emerged yet again as the most preferred ice-cream across the country with Gulab Jamuns a close second.

Interestingly, ice-creams was the most ordered item during the IPL finals between Chennai and Hyderabad. India clocked the maximum dessert orders during November.

(Methodology: The above findings are derived from Swiggy’s order analysis for the last 12 months (1 December 2017 – 30 November 2018) for Delhi-NCR, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Nagpur and Kolkata)
