Requests for selfies began as soon as Ganguly arrived at the hotel. After a break to freshen up and change, he took his place amidst eminent guests from the business and political spheres, like Home Minister Amit Shah, his son and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

The chairman of RPG Enterprises carefully negotiated the velvet rope barricade to have a quick lie-down on a lounge chair by the pool while he checked his phone. Fifteen minutes and a few tweets later, he got up, combed his hair and went right back to the main event.
