Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge: Google Doodle honours German ‘coffee’ chemist on 225th birth anniversary

Coffee lovers at Google Doodle HQ chose adorable GIF to fete Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge's 225th birth anniversary. He was born outside of Hamburg in 1795 to a Lutheran pastor. He analysed chemical composition of coffee which led to discovery of caffeine. He was one of the first scientists to isolate quinine, a drug used to treat malaria. He even devised a method for extracting sugar from beet juice.
