From the King of Netherlands to Arnold Schwarzenegger: These celebs have their secrets too
Here are other public figures who lived with secrets for a long time.
The Olympic gold medallist revealed earlier this year that he has been struggling from a serious neurological-medical condition since 2014. Bindra said that in the Rio Games in August last year, he had to deal with tremors in his hands as he finished fourth in the 10m Air Rifle event. He, however, refused to blame the illness for his performance. “So my hand just keeps shaking. I pursued a sport which required my hands to be stable, but my system and my condition just… it was kind of difficult,” Bindra said about his condition.

The Apple CEO suffered from pancreatic cancer, which claimed his life in 2011. Jobs suffered from the disease for years and kept it a secret from almost everybody, except for a few close family and friends. It came out later that he had delayed having operations and chemotherapy after he found out about the disease and had tried alternative medicines. His inner circle said that he tried to cure himself though acupuncture sessions, drinking special fruit juices, trying out treatments he found on the internet and even visiting spiritualists.
In 2010, the rapper revealed in an interview that he had shot and injured his older brother Eric Carter, who was a cocaine addict. Jay-Z shot him when Carter robbed his ring, but he didn’t press charges against his kid brother. The music mogul said that he was 12 at the time, but that the incident haunted him for most of his life. After pulling the trigger, Jay-Z thought his life was over and he would be jailed. “It was terrible. I was a boy, a child. I was terrified. My brother never pressed charges and he apologised for his mistake, as I did for mine,” Jay-Z said.

The Big Bang Theory actor, who recently married art director Todd Spiewak, came out as gay in 2012. Parsons revealed at that time that he had been in the relationship for 10 years. The Emmy award-winning actor said that while in his private life, he lived as a gay man, in his public life, he hid his true identity for almost a decade. “I’ve never considered my relationship with Todd to be an act of activism,” Parsons said, when he spoke about it, “It’s an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs out — a regular life, boring love.”
The film star-turned-politician had been married for more than two decades to Maria Shriver, when it sensationally came out that he had fathered a child with his maid. Schwarzenegger had been taking care of the child and his mother, who lived just minutes away from his house, for almost 15 years. This love child revelation led to his split from Shriver in 2011. Earlier this year, the actor spoke out about his separation from his wife, saying, “I can be at myself up as much as I want — it’s not gonna change the situation.” He’s said that he shares a great relationship with his newly acknowledged son.
