Galaxy Edge Lighting: This app helps you set colour notifications for different callers

Free, for Android

Certain Samsung Galaxy phones (especially the ones with dual curved amoled screens) have a feature called edge lighting.

If you enable this, just the edges of the screen light up in different colours to inform you about incoming calls and other notifications.

With this free app from developer flysoftvn, you can bring a similar feature to any Android phone – though it works best if your phone has an OLED screen.

You need to grant the app notification access plus access to phone calls and texts.

Once you do this, you can change almost everything about the edge lighting: colours, corner shape, lighting styles, speed, thickness, opacity, duration, add custom colours for certain contacts and further customisations for individual apps.

The idea is to be able to tell who’s calling/texting without picking up the phone (and for the cool quotient, obviously).

The free version shows some ads and has some limitations – you can remove both permanently with an in-app purchase of Rs 95.
