NEW DELHI: Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain caused a flutter online when he put out a tweet hinting at the entry of Mi laptops in the country. The Xiaomi India MD teased on Thursday about the Chinese smartphone-maker's entry into the laptop market. Sharing a video posted by Xiaomi India that showed a video playing 'Hello' on loop, the top boss wrote that 'something much-awaited is coming your way soon'.

The original Xiaomi India post on the micro-blogging site read, "It's time to say, Hello!", while tagging Dell India, Acer India, HP India, Lenovo India and ASUS India.

On Wednesday, Jain uploaded a short, five-second video of himself working on the laptop, and saying it out aloud - 'It's time!"

During an interaction with news agency PTI, Xiaomi India Chief Business Officer Raghu Reddy had said on Thursday that the Indian PC category is still under-penetrated, and the range of Mi Notebooks is likely to be launched 'some time in June'.

While the pricing is not known, the power-packed devices with minimalistic design and latest technology will be targeted at power users from students to office goers. The device is expected to be suitable for gaming, entertainment, education as well as productivity.

In another interview to news agency IANS, Reddy had revealed that the company intends to introduce more products under the Mi brand, like Internet of Things (IoT) products and Smart TVs.

Globally, Xiaomi already sells several laptops under the Mi Notebook branding, including Mi Notebook laptop, a Pro variant, the Mi Gaming laptop and the Mi Laptop Air. Fans are quite eager to see what the Chinese brand has in store for its customers.

Recently, six new laptops from the house of Xiaomi were spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification platform. The listed models are RedmiBook 14 and 16 and are expected to be powered by AMD's new Ryzen 4000 mobility APUs.

Also listed is a new Mi Laptop 13.3 as well as a 14-inch and 16.1-inch versions. There is also a Mi Notebook 14 variant, and all the four models are likely to be equipped only with Intel's Comet Lake-H processors.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi had said it will bring more products under its 'Mi' brand as it looks to offer more premium experiences to customers.
