India Inc reacts to Coronavirus scare: Anand Mahindra says ‘life imitates art’, Kiran Shaw calls situation ‘scary’
The death toll from the virus now stands at 80.
Indian billionaire Anand Mahindra, over the weekend, shared a video with his 7.4 million Twitter followers, expressing concerns over the pandemic.

The video shared by the Mahindra top boss shows shocking images from Wuhan. From people passing out on the streets, overcrowded hospitals to absolute chaos at the supermarkets and public places, Wuhan is in lockdown mode..
Mahindra began the tweet by hoping, for once, that the video was fake. The 64-year-old compared the situation to a 1995 film starring Dustin Hoffman, called ‘Outbreak’. The head of Mumbai-based business conglomerate wondered if this was a classic case of ‘life imitating art’.
“We need to treat this as an emergency ourselves since it’ll spill way beyond China’s borders”, wrote Mahindra.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the chairperson and managing director of Biocon, Asia’s leading biopharmaceuticals enterprise, took notice of Mahindra’s tweet and took to Twitter to voice her concerns.

‘Is this real or from a film?’, wrote Shaw. She said that though the virus is spreading, the silver lining is that ‘the genetic sequence is known n vaccine is likely to be developed in weeks’.
China has gone into emergency mode to try and contain the spread of pathogens. As of now, there have been no reports of Indians being diagnosed with the virus.
