- Walplast CEO adapted to change of workplace in lockdown by following a quote from the Gita
Keep out: I have always had a home office. It is a separate dedicated room where I usually don't allow anyone to be around while I am at work as my work day involves constant video and audio calls and conferences. No one is allowed in the home office unless absolutely necessary and to deliver the occasional grub that I keep forgetting to even eat while so engrossed in work.
On call: I am literally sitting in my home office 24x7! We have witnessed a tremendous growth in this lockdown - so I have been on non-stop video calls with employees, customers, dealers and vendors. One of the first things I invested in was a better chair as that seemed like a very big factor playing in my productivity. It has really upped my comfort level. I also invested in a lapel mike as I suddenly found myself presenting in many webinars and virtual forums.
Cover the bases: In the lockdown I haven't had a break even on Sundays. So the basics had to be right - like the table height, width, a larger monitor in addition to the laptop, the internet connection and a back-up as everything now is online. I also have a mobile booster in the home office so my phone signals is never a problem. Technology has played a big role in business continuity.
Next step: We are thinking of investing more in software to make the company run smoother and remove the virtual world's limitations. Not much investment is required in hardware. It is the same principle for personal improvement as well.
I have always believed in high quality. I am inclined in knowing exactly how any gadget works and I have realised over the years that the most expensive is not necessarily the best.
