Kingston HyperX Cloud Earbuds review: Create powerful sound & crisp highs, worth the asking price
The 3.5mm connector is right angled so as to not interfere with your gaming session.
The HyperX series of products from Kingston includes gaming-focused headsets, keyboards, computer memory (RAM + SSDs) and mice. This product is specially designed for the Nintendo Switch handheld gaming console (though the 3.5mm connector means it can also be used with any phone, laptop or tablet that has 3.5mm output).
The first optimisation you see is the cherry red colour - it goes perfectly with the red Nintendo JoyCon. The 3.5mm connector is right angled so as to not interfere with your gaming session. The flat rubberised cable is tangle free and includes an in-line remote and condenser microphone for those games that require in game chat. That being said, it works great for phone calls too. In the box, you get the earbuds, a hard case and three sizes of silicone ear tips.
The silicone ear tips have a design that allows them to sit in the outer ear canal - we found them to be comfortable for long hours of use. Even though you don’t push them deep into the ear canal, the tips form a seal and stay secure. Each earbud houses a dynamic 14mm driver with neodymium magnets. They really create some powerful sound with a wide soundstage and crisp highs. The only downside is the all-plastic construction - we were expecting some more premium materials given the price. That being said, we also spotted them online for as low as Rs 4,000 (with a 2 year warranty and free technical support included) which makes them pretty good value for the kind of sound they produce.
