Massive Restaurants boss says yes to sneakers with suits; calls pocket square 'the ultimate accessory'

    Synopsis

Zorawar Kalra says Zegna is his favourite suit company.

    Agencies
Zorawar Kalra has 12 custom-made suits.
Zorawar Kalra, MD, Massive Restaurants, on why gold is out when it comes to wearing a suit.

    My first suit
The first time I wore a suit was in Class 12, when we were given our graduation certificates. It was an incredible time. I still remember the colour — it went from dark brown to a tan brown. I wore a nice silk shirt with no tie. That was the first time I wore a suit that was custom-made for that occasion, and it made me feel powerful.

    What’s the count
I have a lot of suits and about 12 of them are custom-made. I have many jackets that I combine with various trousers to make a full ensemble.

    Stand-out suit
The one that I wear often is a custom-suit made by my friend Ashish Soni. Ashish always takes extra care in designing suits for me. They are well cut from high quality Zegna material and I enjoy wearing them a lot.

    Brand speak

Zegna is definitely my favourite suit company. I buy the fabric and get it tailor made. In terms of fabric quality, it would either be Loro Piana or Zegna.

    Suit style
The most important thing is comfort. The fit and finish and how it suits your body should be kept in mind. Suits can have a flattering effect if they are cut right and measured correctly.

    Don’t go for gold
You should never wear gold chains or any gold jewellery with suits, in my opinion. I find it off-putting. I don’t like seeing people wear any jewellery with their expensive suits.

    Accessorise right
A pocket square is the ultimate accessory. In fact, it is the only accessory that I wear with my suit. It has to match the colour. Sometimes you can also be creative and try a bright pocket square.

    Suit & sneakers
Definitely, yes. In the current modern-day environment, they can work.
