Any new iPad is great for image editing - the large touchscreen screen and powerful chipset makes sure of that. Pixelmator has built this app from the ground up with only the iPad in mind. And it offers you desktop-class editing tools for your photos. There are precise, granular controls (filters, sliders, toggles) for almost everything you would need to adjust.
If you've made a change you don't like, just double tap to reset it. Importantly, this is all non-destructive editing - which means you can easily undo changes or revert back to the original image with a tap. If you’re feeling lazy, tap the magical ML (machine learning) button.
Pixelmator Photo taps into the Core ML functionality offered by Apple. This is one of the highlights of the app - it uses intelligence gathered from millions of photos to apply appropriate adjustments on its own - within a second! The example photograph in this image (captured by the author) was made better using the ML tool.
We also had a lot of fun just erasing things from images, handled with just a swipe using the healing tool. Keep in mind, it's not just erasing things, it's also recreating the background. Finally, the ML can also be applied to crop a photo.
The ML Crop tool will automatically crop your photo and improve the composition. Unlike some other desktop-class photo editors that require monthly/annual subscriptions, Pixelmator Pro is yours with a one-time payment only. It's well worth the purchase if you want to make your photographs pop.
