Ritu Nanda cremated in Delhi; Bachchans, Kapoors pay tribute, Abhishek consoles niece Navya

The daughter of Bollywood showman Raj Kapoor passed away at the age of 71, after battling cancer.

Ritu Nanda, entrepreneur and daughter of late Bollywood actor and film-maker Raj Kapoor, passed away in the wee hours of Monday, after battling cancer.

The 71-year-old, who was married to the late Escorts patriarch Rajan Nanda and is survived by son Nikhil and daughter Natasha, was cremated in New Delhi. Amitabh Bachchan, whose daughter Shweta is married to Nikhil, flew to the National Capital along with daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

Abhishek Bachchan, who also attended Nanda's last rites, was seen comforting his niece Navya, as she and brother Agastya paid their last respects to their grandmother.

The Kapoor brothers, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv, along with sister Reema Jain also paid tribute to their sister.

Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who had earlier taken to Instagram to mourn the loss of her paternal aunt or bua, was accompanied by husband Bharat Sahni at the funeral.

The 71-year-old, who was married to the late Escorts patriarch Rajan Nanda, had been battling cancer. Rajan Nanda, business tycoon and the chairman & Chief Managing Director of Escorts Limited, passed away on Sunday at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon after a brief illness. The 76-year-old Nanda was the chairman of Escorts that manufactures tractors and construction equipment. He had joined Escorts at the age of 23 and took over the reins after his father HP Nanda stepped down in 1994. There was a considerable Bollywood representation at his last rites in Delhi. Nanda's son, Nikhil, is married to Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's daughter Shweta.
