Ritu Nanda passes away at 71; Neetu Singh, Big B pay tribute

Ritu Nanda, entrepreneur and daughter of late Bollywood actor and film-maker Raj Kapoor, passed away early on Tuesday in New Delhi after a long battle with cancer. She was 71.

Ritu is the sister of Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. On Tuesday morning, Neetu Singh, who is married to Rishi, posted a picture on Instagram with a message: "My dearest may your soul Rest in Peace."


Riddhima Kapoor-Sahni, the daughter of Rishi and Neetu, also took to Instagram to mourn the loss of her paternal aunt or bua, calling her "the most gentle person" that she ever met .

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose daughter Shweta is married to Nanda's son Nikhil, also mourned her loss on his blog. The 76-year-old actor wrote, " My ‘samdhan’ Ritu Nanda, Shweta’s Mother in Law passed away suddenly at 1.15 Am .. cannot communicate .. travelling."

The daughter of showman Raj Kapoor, she was also involved with Life Insurance Corporation of India and was rumoured to have made it to the Guinness Book for selling a record 17,000 pension plans in a day. She was married to Rajan Nanda, business tycoon and the chairman & Chief Managing Director of Escorts Limited, who passed away in August 2018.

Supriya Sule, the Nationalist Congress Party MP from Baramati, expressed her condolence and prayed for the family.


Adman Suhel Seth mourned her loss on Twitter, and paid tribute to her "generosity, compassion and elegance."
