Sahachari Foundation: Celebrating a decade of service
The charitable trust has been working tirelessly towards creating a more inclusive society.
Dedicated to education, health care, upliftment, animal welfare, and above all, empowerment, 2019 marks the completion of a decade of the foundation’s service to society. The foundation fulfils its vision by allocating resources to impactful and socially relevant projects.
It is a loyal patron to Apne Aap Women's Collective (AAWC), an NGO involved in grassroot work to prevent second-generation sex work. Sahachari’s support enables AAWC to operate a day program offering meals, tuitions and a night shelter for up to 20 vulnerable children.
Recently, Sahachari funded a visit of the world’s first mobile rail hospital, Lifeline Express, to Korba, Chhattisgarh, at which 40 doctors performed 2,000 free operations for patients from the underserved local tribe.
Palliative care in a clean environment is critical for recovery from cancer. The foundation supports St Jude’s Childcare Centre to provide a clean place to stay for out-station paediatric patients.
Promoting cultural events is another endeavour of Sahachari Foundation. The next event, Dhwani, on November 21 at NCPA will feature violin maestro Dr L Subramanian.
