    Shah Rukh Khan to support toddler in distressing Muzaffarpur video, says he knows how it feels to lose a parent

    The Covid-19 lockdown in the country brought to the forefront the plight of migrant workers, who struggled to reach their native hometowns in the crisis. Among the many distressing stories and visuals that flooded the Internet, a video clip of a toddler tugging at a piece of cloth covering his dead mother who was lying on a platform at Bihar's Muzaffarpur railway station, went viral, breaking hearts around the country.

    Distressed by the heart-wrenching video, Shah Rukh Khan, through his Meer Foundation, stepped in to help the toddler.

    The foundation, on Twitter, thanked people for helping them reach the child, sharing a picture of him with his family.

    “#MeerFoundation is thankful to all who helped us reach this child, whose heart wrenching video of trying to wake his mother disturbed all. We are now supporting him and he is under his grandfather’s care.” the foundation tweeted.

    SRK also shared the foundation's tweet, saying, “Thank you all for getting us in touch with the little one. We all pray he finds strength to deal with the most unfortunate loss of a parent. I know how it feels…Our love and support is with you baby.”


    The actor lost his father when he was a child and his mother 30 years ago. He has often spoken about the loss he dealt with after losing his parents.

    Khan has been doing his in the fight against Covid through his various companies, Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX.
