If you’re a movie or TV show buff, you probably know about the IMDB (Internet Movie DataBase).
It’s where regular viewers go for synopses, reviews, ratings, trailers, photos, showtimes and more. It’s also where industry insiders go for contact information.
Given the wealth of data they have, it’s hard to compete with IMDB but The Movienator is trying and worthy of attention in our opinion.
For starters, it’s a more beautiful app. IMDB’s app can look cluttered at times but The Movienator puts the content and artwork up first.
It’s easier to discover new content and the trailers are placed up front too.
We like that tapping on the trailer re-directs you to YouTube instead of playing in the app – you can easily change streaming quality and go full screen too.
The Movienator is still a work in progress and will probably never have as much information as IMDB but there’s a space for it – when you purely need a quick opinion, to search for content by genre and to see what’s trending.
