Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi's mother wouldn't buy a cup of coffee worth 15 cents
Lili Khosrowshahi was talking about their tough days when money was limited.
When Dara was 13, his father returned to Iran to take care of his ailing grandfather and was detained for six years. Recalling those tough days, Lili said, “We had very limited money and I remember at the time, coffee was 15 cents and I wouldn’t buy a cup of coffee for myself. ” The audience got a glimpse of the relationship that Dara shares with his mother as he cheekily quipped — “I buy her a cup of coffee nowadays.”
Looking back at how far they’ve come, Lili added, “I always say, be humble. Because of the (Iranian) revolution, I always think you can be up there, but then you fall. So don’t brag, be humble, be ethical and that goes to our bragger-in-chief.” Guess it’s safe to assume that she was talking about Donald Trump.
