Cameo over in 6 months. Urmila Matondkar quits Congress, cites lack of leadership, infighting
She said that she was 'disillusioned' with the way the party leadership behaved after 2019 polls.
After a high-profile entry in the Lok Sabha elections, Urmila Matondkar has called it quits from the Congress. With this, the party's already-receding fortunes in Maharashtra have got another jolt.
The 45-year-old actress, who had made her debut from the Mumbai North constituency on a Congress ticket, had taken on BJP veteran Gopal Shetty in the Lok Sabha elections.
According to Times Now, the 'Rangeela' star has said that she has been disillusioned with the way the Congress has performed. She has also cited "lack of leadership" and "infighting" as the major reasons.
The actress has also alleged that confidential communication that she had shared with the Mumbai Congress chief, Milind Deora, were leaked to the media. She also claims that "vested interests" at work within the party had worked overtime to ensure her electoral loss.
The actress had joined the party in March this year.
