Anuj Golecha, Co-founder of Venture Catalysts did face some challenges in the initial two weeks working from home, he has now been able to manage work more efficiently.

He told ET Panache, "One of the main advantages of working from home is that I can attend meetings with people from the US, the UK, the ME and India on the same day. This was not possible for earlier. I use Calendly and Notion to improve my productivity. Multifold is another great tool for virtual working. When it comes to meetings, I either use Zoom or MS Teams. I believe the environment you work in can affect your productivity to a great extent. I have shifted to my Lonavala house since lockdown, I have set up a dedicated workspace where I can be at my productive best and have been working from here since then."

Being in the startup space, Golecha has always preferred dressing casually and he does the same at home.

"However, if I am invited as a speaker for any events or webinars, I throw on a jacket. With virtual meetings becoming the new norm, it was becoming draining to take back to back video calls. I was experiencing what is now known as the ‘Zoom fatigue’. Also, attending several meetings left me with no time to finish other important tasks and I ended up working late hours almost every day," he shared.

After he realised it was taking a toll on his health, Golecha started planning his days and blocked the calendar to finish pending work and respond to emails.

"This practice has definitely helped me to avoid consecutive video calls and complete the necessary work in between. My day starts pretty early at 5:30 am when I do my workouts. I start working at 9 am and try to wrap up by 6 pm. However, I make sure to take out time in the afternoon to have lunch with my family. Unless it is an emergency, I avoid taking calls during that time. Post 7 pm, I spend time either reading or playing indoor games. On some days, I like playing badminton in our compound," he said.

However, Golecha has to take calls from people in different time zones occasionally. If that’s the case, his work-life balance does get hampered.

"With a strict diet plan and workout regime, I have managed to reduce 12 kg of weight in just a couple of months. Access to home food, choosing what I want to eat and when I want to eat can be the game changer when you are trying to say fit. Apart from that, I take diet consultations and attend virtual workout sessions over video calls for professional guidance. And, I have all the basic exercise equipment at home so I am not really missing the gym," he said.

Golecha has started enjoying playing video games during the lockdown. "Also, I now have more time to read books and listen to my favourite music," he ended.
