YouTube today unveils their music streaming service in India, YouTube Music. It literally spoils you for choice. From Bollywood hits like 'Dil toh pagal hai', to global sensations like 'Gangnam style', to recent rap sensation 'Apna time ayega', and landmark videos like 'Despacito', 'Rangamma mangamma', more than a billion music lovers listen to their favourites, and new music on YouTube.

In a sea of music apps, YouTube Music turns out to be pretty neat. If you are someone who likes to listen to music on YouTube, then this is the perfect platform. It offers you everything, from music videos, singles and playlists, to covers and remixes. You can search for a song just by typing anything, even incorrect lyrics for that matter. From the description of the song, to just one word from the lyrics, anything will work.

With Spotify garnering a million customers in India within a week, and most music enthusiasts already having found the app of their choice, will YouTube Music hit the right notes?

Setting up
Setting up the app is super easy. Once you open the app in iOS or Android or desktop browser; you can see three tabs, namely, Home, Hotlist and Library. With such an easy interface, navigating through the app is a cakewalk.

What is the 'Home' tab all about?
You land on the home tab when you open the app. This is probably the best part about the app. The list here is consistently updated, with music and videos as per your preference and your region or location. The app wants to know what you like to hear, from the time you sign-in. You will be asked to pick up a handful of artists. As you keep using the app, listen to more music, watch videos, the app begins to understand you better and give you more of what you want to hear. The app is really adaptive, in case you turn on location-based recommendations, you'll get a playlist accordingly.

What is the 'Hotlist'?
The Hotlist is where you will find your Trending music which is aggregated as per the region you are in. It will also showcase everything that is new, that is creating headlines, that is grabbing attention.

What is the 'Library'?
This is like your repository, and works pretty much in the same way as the video service. So, your downloads, the music that you've saved, the recently played songs and playlists, everything that you have liked, and the artists you have subscribed to, will be here.

Diversity being the centre point for India, music on this app is available in multiple languages.

The audio quality of the music also stands out compared to those of other apps.

YouTube Premium
It also offers an add-free, paid service which is the YouTube Premium. You can play songs and videos in the background, while shifting between apps, or between writing a text message or locking your phone during a run. YouTube Music Premium also offers offline downloads all starting at just Rs 99 a month.

YouTube Music pulls on your YouTube history to attain recommendations, everything you listen to in YouTube Music goes onto that same YouTube history.

YouTube Music offers you the best playlist, and industry-backed Google's algorithm for a flawless experience.
