Mauritius has good weather all year round but end of May will be especially pleasant as it will be the beginning of the winter season.

I am 55 year old and will be traveling solo for the first time to Australia in December. I am going for 15 days with Sydney as my base. As a plus size woman with an inherent fear of water, I seek your guidance on the Great Barrier Reef. For someone who is not keen on snorkeling or scuba diving, what would be my options? Also, which other cities can I visit?
December is a great time to visit Australia as the continent experiences its summer season. Sydney as a base is convenient since it has good flight connectivity. Explore the city for a day or two where you can experience iconic spots like the Sydney Opera House, BridgeClimb, Darling Harbour, Sydney Tower, Blue Mountains and Port Stephens. From there, move to Queensland where a couple of days can be spent visiting the cities of Cairns and the Gold Coast. Cairns is your hub to experience the Great Barrier Reef. If you prefer to stay dry but still want to experience the reef you can definitely do so on a semi-submersible cruise which takes you one meter underwater and lets you experience a diver's perspective of the reef. Alternatively, you can experience a spectacular aerial view of the reef with a tenminute helicopter ride. Proceed to Melbourne afterwards and discover Philip Island and Great Ocean Road. I would also recommend destinations like Ayers Rocks in the Northern Territory, Perth and Adelaide which are gaining popularity.

I am travelling to Mauritius with my family towards the end of May 2020. What kind of sightseeing do you recommend? Also, is vegetarian food easily available?
Mauritius has good weather all year round but end of May will be especially pleasant as it will be the beginning of the winter season. Mauritius is known for its spectacular natural beauty, so you will not run out of places to visit. Some notable ones I would like to recommend are -The Blue Submarine Safari, Casela Bird Park, Casela World of Adventures and Ile aux Cerfs for parasailing. You can also try speed boat and banana boat rides and go for the Catamaran cruise and the Undersea Walk for an adventurous time. As far as the availability of vegetarian food is concerned, you will find some restaurants that include Indian food in their menu. I recommend you inform your travel agent or hotel beforehand about your dietary preferences so that they can accommodate you accordingly.
