Rajasthan Food and Civil Supplies Minister Babu Lal Nagar told ET that the corporation will procure and distribute food grain items at subsidised rates to people across the state.

"The primary objective of the proposed corporation is to carry out procurement, storage and distribution of food grains, buffer stocking of coarse grains, procure and distribute edible oils, LPG agency and distribution, procurement, storage and distribution of controlled cloth and other items to be distributed through PDS," he said.

As per the proposed scheme, the corporation would be involved in sale and purchase of various items of consumer importance, namely, food grains, tea, soap, iodised salt, and kerosene.

"Depending on the crop season, the corporation would identify markets on the basis of quality and quantity of food grains that come to various markets. The grains would be purchased directly from farmers through open tenders and stored in state warehouses.

The corporation would also establish advanced institutes for research purposes. "Our aim would be to reach out to the poor people staying in remote areas. Apart from working as an implementation agency of PDS and other schemes in the state, the corporation would also provide its services to the people, whenever there is any calamity such as an earthquake, drought, flood, cyclone, outbreak of diseases and communal riots in any part of the state," he said.
