Berger Paints Q2 profit surges 67% to Rs 195 crore

Revenue from operations (excluding GST) in the said quarter stood at Rs 1,598.58 crore.

Berger Paints India reported a 67.1 % jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 194.66 crore for the second-quarter ended September 30, 2019. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 116.46 crore in the year-ago period.

Consolidated revenue from operations (excluding GST) in the said quarter stood at Rs 1,598.58 crore, up by 7.2 % from Rs 1,490.06 crore in the same quarter of last fiscal, the company's media statement stated.

In the April-September period, the company said its net profit was at Rs 371.07 crore as compared to Rs 250.34 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. Revenue from operations in the first half of the fiscal was at Rs 3,315.1 crore as compared to Rs 2,973.1 crore the corresponding period last fiscal, the company said.

Berger Paints' investor presentation on financial results states the company's wholly owned subsidiary BJN Nepal had a strong quarter with improved top-line and profitability. Its wholly owned subsidiary SBL Specialty Coatings Private Limited (erstwhile Saboo Coatings Limited) too continued to show profitability in the current quarter. However, the company's JV BNPAC continued to suffer in the backdrop of slump in automotive sector.
