Wonderla Holidays Q2 net profit falls Rs 16 lakh

Net revenue stood at Rs 43.92 crore against Rs 43.36 crore a year ago.

The results were better for the half-year ended September 30 2019.
Kochi: Net profit of Wonderla Holidays dropped while the net revenue showed a marginal rise for the second quarter ended September 30, 2019.

The profit after tax was Rs 0.16 crore compared with Rs 0.94 crore same time previous year. The net revenue stood at Rs 43.92 crore against Rs 43.36 crore a year ago.

The company attributed the fall to slowdown in demand due to excessive rain and flood in Kerala and Karnataka and unseasonal rain in Hyderabad. The footfall in Kochi grew 60% and 5% in Hyderabad while it declined by 22% in Bangalore for the quarter.

The results were better for the half-year ended September 30 2019. The net profit showed 24% increase from a year ago to Rs 42.19 crore . The net revenue rose 11% to Rs 165.23 crore.

``Despite the challenging business environment, we are happy with the overall business performance during the quarter especially the positive trend in Kochi and are confident that the footfall will show an uptrend across all locations in the ensuing quarters,’’ said George Joseph, joint managing director of the company.
