Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel, SAIL, NMDC among top 50 companies that hit fresh 52-week highs

NEW DELHI: The benchmark NSE Nifty index reclaimed the psychological level of 8,400 on Wednesday on account of buying in metal as well as selected heavyweight stocks.

Over 50 stocks on the NSE hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade. The list includes stocks such as Adani Power, Cairn India, Hindustan Zinc, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, Mastek, NMDC, Panacea Biotec, Pokarna and Rain Industries.

Steel majors Tata Steel and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) also hit their new 52-week highs in Wednesday’s trade. UPL, Voltamp, Zuari Agro and Sonata Software also touched their fresh 52-week highs.

On the other hand, Birla Cotsyn (India), Capital Trust, Nitesh Estates, Gammon Infrastructure, Rasoya Protein, Raj Rayon Industries, Shekhawati Poly-Yarn hit their fresh 52-week lows in today’s trade.

In the Nifty pack, 32 stocks were trading in the green with BHEL adding 4.10 per cent (around 1.10 pm (IST)), followed by Tata Steel (up 3.14 per cent), HUL (up 2.59 per cent), Grasim (1.96 per cent) and Hindalco (up 1.75 per cent).

Bharti Airtel, Gail, NTPC, BPCL and Idea Cellular were down by 1.73 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.62 per cent, 1.39 per cent and 1.16 per cent, respectively, around the same time.

Midcap and smallcap stocks continued to outpace broader markets. The 30-share Sensex was trading 53.85 points, or 0.20 per cent up at 27,289.51, while the BSE Midcap index was up 0.45 per cent at 12729.20.

The BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.62 per cent, or 79 points up at 12,883.98.
