ITC shares flat as Nifty plummet

The Indian conglomerate has for the first time set a dividend payout ratio for shareholders.
Shares of ITC traded 0.3 per cent up in Thursday's trade at 10:29 am. Around 2,29,55,014 shares changed hands on the counter. The stock opened at Rs 150.7 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 152.35 and Rs 144.75, respectively, in the session so far.

The Indian conglomerate has for the first time set a dividend payout ratio for shareholders. The company’s board fixed dividend payout ratio at 80-85 per cent of profit after tax, effective this fiscal.

Financials
ITC, incorporated in the year 1910, is a Large Cap company (having a market cap of Rs 1,85,182.46 crore) operating in the Tobacco sector.

The company’s net profit was up by 29 per cent at Rs 4,141.93 crore beating Street estimates for the quarter ended December 31. For the quarter ended 31-12-2019, the company has reported consolidated sales of Rs 13,307.54 crore, up 4.30 per cent from last quarter sales of Rs 12,759.44 crore and up 21.01 per cent from last year same quarter sales of Rs 10,996.62 crore.

ITC key products/revenue segments include packaged food item which contributed Rs 9,668.71 crore to sales value (21.11 per cent of total sales), agricultural products which contributed Rs 4,345.84 crore to sales value (9.49 per cent of total sales), paper & paper boards which contributed Rs 3,718.79 crore to sales value (8.12 per cent of total sales), others which contributed Rs 2819.13 crore to sales value (6.15 per cent of total sales), tobacco unmanufactured which contributed Rs 1,721.15 crore to sales value (3.75 per cent of total sales), service (hotel) which contributed Rs 1,648.20 crore to sales value (3.59 per cent of total sales), printed materials which contributed Rs 586.64 crore to sales value (1.28 per cent of total sales), other operating revenue which contributed Rs 562.98 crore to sales value (1.22 per cent of total sales)for the year ending 31-mar-2019.

Promoters held no stake in the company as of Dec 2019.

Valuation ratios
It quoted a price-to-earnings ratio of 11.99 and price-to-book value of 3.17.
