Market Now: BSE Smallcap index outperforms benchmark Sensex

Market Now: BSE Smallcap index outperforms benchmark Sensex
Shares of Ambika Cotton Mills zoomed 20 per cent in the BSE Smallcap index.
NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was outperforming benchmark Sensex in Wednesday's trade.

Around 10:45 hours, the BSE Smallcap index was 214 points up at 19,372, while Sensex was 119 points up at 33,931. The Nifty50 index was 42 points up at 10,484.

Shares of Ambika Cotton Mills (up 20 per cent), Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals (up 19.91 per cent), Excel Crop Care (up 12.72 per cent) and Diamond Power Infrastructure (up 11.61 per cent) zoomed over 10 per cent in the BSE Smallcap index.

On the other hand, Sagar Cements (up 9.23 per cent), Fortis Healthcare (up 8.78 per cent), Aarti Drugs (up 8.46 per cent), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (up 8.07 per cent), Saregama India (up 7.90 per cent), Kridhan Infra (up 7.79 per cent), Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (up 7.27 per cent) and Forbes & Company (up 7.21 per cent) surged over 7 per cent.

However, IVRCL (down 5.18 per cent), Castex Technologies (down 5 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), Bombay Rayon Fashions (down 4.98 per cent), 3i Infotech (down 4.89 per cent), Rollatainers (down 4.67 per cent) and Gujarat NRE Coke (down 4.65 per cent) were the stocks that cracked up to 5 per cent in the smallcap space.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 118 points up at 33,930, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 43 points up at 10,485.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.
