Market Now: IT stocks fall; MindTree cracks 5%

NEW DELHI: Most of the IT stocks, including MindTree (down 4.77 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 3.49 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 2.08 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.47 per cent) and Infibeam Incorporation (down 1.18 per cent) were losing in Thursday's trade.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.53 per cent down at 10,868 around 10:55 am (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 12 points down at 10,283, while BSE Sensex was 86 points down at 32,957.

Shares of Infosys (up 0.90 per cent), Wipro (up 0.27 per cent) and KPIT Technologies (up 0.18 per cent) were the three components of the Nifty IT index that were trading in the green around that time.

Over 50 stocks, including Bank of Baroda, Bank of India and Bharat Forge hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE in Thursday's trade, defying the bearish market temperament.

On the contrary, nearly 15 stocks, including Arcotech, Diamond Power Infra, Dynamatic Technologies, Khaitan Electricals, Reliance Communications and Tara Jewels hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE.

Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Larsen & Toubro, Hindalco and State Bank of India were trading as the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Power Grid Corporation, HCL Tech, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Asian Paints were the top losers among the Nifty stocks.
