Market Now: Nearly 20 stocks hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE

The Nifty50 index was trading 6 points lower at 10,224, while Sensex was at 32,575, down 59 points around 10.15 am (IST).

NEW DELHI: Nearly 20 stocks such as Nu Tek India, Sujana Universal, Malwa Cotton, TV Vision, Sri Adhikari, Khaitan Elect, SAB Events & Governance Now Media, Vardhman Poly, Hindustan Media, Punjab Sind Bank, KSS Ltd and JMT Auto touched their new 52-week lows on NSE in Tuesday's trade.

However, over 50 stocks, including Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, Bombay Burmah, Bharti Airtel, Federal Bank, Bharti Infratel, Maan Aluminium, Oberoi Realty, Ramco Industries, Tata Chemicals and Vedanta hit their fresh 52-week highs on NSE in Tuesday's early trade, despite a cautious market sentiment.

Equity markets opened on a cautious note on Tuesday, tracking mixed global cues. A fresh spell of selling emerged in pharma, metal, FMCG and metal stocks.

The Nifty50 index was trading 6 points lower at 10,224, while Sensex was at 32,575, down 59 points around 10.15 am (IST).

In the Nifty 50 index, BPCL, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, GAIL, YES Bank, Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma, Indian Oil Corp, TCS and Bharti Infratel were among top gainers.

On the contrary, Tata Motors, Bosch, Eicher Motors, ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs, UPL, Zee Entertainment, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, Infosys, Vedanta and HDFC Bank were trading in the red.

Traders were seen piling up position in textiles, metals, automobiles, petrochemicals, telecommunications, infrastructure, rubber, power, electronics, transport, auto ancillaries, equipment, engineering, paper and petroleum sectors.

On the NSE, 814 stocks were advancing, compared with 735 stocks declining and 416 stocks remaining unchanged.
