However, the stellar rise of the stock has coincided with lower delivery volume in the counter raising concerns of higher speculative bets. The monthly average of the delivery in RIL’s counter dropped to 24.4% in July 2020, which was just a half of the average delivery over the past decade, according to the ETIG database.
RIL’s current index weight is also the highest among the top stocks in the world based on market capitalisation. For instance, Apple Inc, which has the highest market cap in the world, has a weight of 11.2% in the Dow Jones index. In other examples, Linde, the world’s largest industrial gas company has a weight of 10% in Germany’s DAX 30 while fashion major LVMH holds the highest weight at 9.5% in France’s CAC40.
