    Share market update: Telecom shares fall; Aksh Optifibre slumps over 5%

    NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with losses in Monday's afternoon session.

    Shares of Aksh Optifibre (down 5.68 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 4.92 per cent), GTPL Hathway (down 3.99 per cent) and Vindhya Telelinks (down 3.78 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

    Tejas Networks (down 2.48 per cent), ITI (down 2.38 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 2.27 per cent) and GTL (down 1.58 per cent) too were trading in the red.

    Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.44 per cent up at 964.86 around 11:41 am.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 79.30 points at 11,339.95 while the BSE Sensex was down 306.44 points at 38,030.57.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

    Shares of YES Bank, Spicejet, Vodafone Idea, GAIL, Dish TV India, L&T Fin Holding, Adani Power, Federal Bank, Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
